cottage cheese is my bff!

So when I am trying to be healthy I swear, cottage cheese is my best friend...I actually like it, and it is filling to my belly. I feel like I am doing well, but am getting so darn impatient with the weight not coming right off. Uch! Plus I have my period soon, so Im still a little bloated. Here is my menu today:
Exercise---day off from gym

B: light english muffin (with i cant believe its not butter---about a tsp, three low fat turkey sausage links)
sn: small can v-8, mini babybell cheese
L: Lean Cuisine stuffed Cabbage with mashed potatoes, a few almonds (to add fat for the zone), and the stuffed cabbage was surprisingly good!
sn: skim latte, cottage cheese (held me over until dinner)
***went to a wine tasting for Italian wines, so a teeny bit of wine.
D: Whole Wheat breaded Tilapia from Costco (baked), lots of steamed green beans, a tiny bit of whole wheat cous cous and a very small glass of pinot grigio

Damn alarm!!!

I wanted to go to Spin class this am....start the week off right. Plus I knew that I was recieving our cookies from our work cookie exchange today...that being said, instead of snooze I hit the off button and slept until 7am (spin is at 5:30am)....so I really tried today and only ate about two or three cookies, and was really good otherwise ( : Here goes: Oh, and I am loosely following the Zone diet.
Breakfast 1/4 whole grain bagel (scooped out) with cream cheese and 1/2 C cottage cheese
snack: 1/2 apple spice zone bar
lunch: Lean Cuisine Basil Cream Chicken and a couple of cookies
snack: 1/2 a large apple, 6 almonds, and a mini babybel cheese
Dinner: Tomato soup made with fat free half and half, steamed green beans, and a grilled cheese on light whole wheat bread and low fat american cheese. Coke zero
just ate a peanut butter chocolate chip bar---dangerous! I gave some to hubby though.
I did 15 min of weights and 30 min of cardio tonight. Oh and I drank lots of water

Ok, Friday I went to spin class and did another 20 min of cardio on the eliptical....
ate a light eng muffin with cottage cheese for Breakfast
turkey and cheese with hummus for lunch,
an apple.....and then we went to our free happy hour at Bar A..... Had mostly salad, and a teeny bit of pasta, and some sausage and peppers, lots of drinks (light beer, vodka and seltzer), and then....at the end of the night...pancakes. NOW, when I make pancakes (which is rare) I like to FRY them. Not saute them in the pan, but FRY them in a puddle of vegetable oil....and then eat them with butter.....

Carrot Cake and a Protein Shake

So that was my only motivation to get out of bed at 6am and get on that eliptical. I knew I was having some carrot cake at work. Hey, everyone needs some motivation, right? Had a protein shake this am made with Designer Whey---which is good if you make it this way...

1% milk (1 C)
1 scoop Designer Whey Vanilla
1 tsp peanut butter (I used natural)
2 tsp Fibersure
splenda to taste
3 ice cubes
Blend all ingredients in the Magic Bullet. So good! If you skip the splenda it tastes like nothing.

Spin class kicked my ass----Arthur is god!

Arthur, who teaches spin at my gym is the only reason I can get up some mornings. He is the most energentic little bald man to ever sit his can on a bike! He plays great music and seriously, even though the whole class feels like 45 minutes of total hell, it goes by fast and he makes it fun. I really did not want to get up this am (class is at 5:30am), but Im so glad I did. My breakfast was rather large because of it...(plus I did another 20 minutes on the eliptical---Im hardcore!)
1/4 of a bagel with strawberry cream cheese
1/2 C cottage cheese
Special K Protein Plus with 1/2 banana

Lunch was a lean pocket (meatballs and mozzerella) and a chicken finger. I am still hungry, think a v-8 will help fill me?????

I am a bad girl...

OK, I have said this before, but now my pants do not fit...so I am hard core doing healthy eating. I think perhaps my downfall is I was exercising so much that I was increasing my appetite and eating a lot more than usual, so it was self-defeating. I am now exercising at a more normal level and then am able to eat a bit less. Sounds crazy...exercise less, lose weight. So I bought a scale and I am currently 145.8 lbs. Most I have ever weighed. I have gained 15 lbs and am NOT happy about it. I know what I need to do, I am a dietician's daughter, but doing it is another thing. I have thrown out all of the halloween candy and my stash of m&ms (although it pained me to do that)
Today...
Exercise: 70 minutes cardio, 40 minutes weights (legs)

B: Protein Bar (cannot eat much before workout, blame the acid reflux)
L: Protein shake --Designer Whey Vanilla (low carb whey shake, with splenda and vanilla extract and 1 % milk) and a tsp of peanut butter
Sn: Pear and split a 100 cal pack carrot cake cupcakes with hubby
D: Baked chicken (breaded) with mashed cauliflower (and some wine)
Sn: Split a banana with pb with hubby

Dinner: Lean Cuisine Sesame Chicken (my fave) and steamed green beans and a glass of pinot grigio (crazy day)

Breakfast--instant brown sugar oatmeal
Lunch---samples at Costco and grilled cheese with iced coffee from Dunkin'
Dinner---a yummy chicken stew I am making in the crock---will post pictures soon!

Paninis!!!!

I love paninis, and I make this pretty often---cannot remember when I ate this last week, but it has home made pesto, fresh mozzerella, and eggplant on sourdough bread from Panera. Love it!!!

Trolley to Hell, and to hell with the diet!!!

Last night I went on this "Trolley to Hell" in Philadelphia with friends. You dress up in Halloween costumes and ride a trolley and drink your face off, and stop at bars along the way. Not only did I have pizza for dinner (no veggies), but I stopped off at McDonald's at 2 am and got the #9, 10 piece (yes 10 piece) chicken mcnuggets and med fries...at least I didnt drink the soda (was supposed to be club soda and it was coke instead) and I drank light beer ( :

I dressed up as a doctor! Not a cardiologist obviously ( ;

I have been a very baaaad blogger!

So I have not been able to post here in over a week I think, life gets crazy...school, work, blah blah...

but I wanted to make sure that I noted my new fave pasta!!!! I love Ronzoni's whole what (Healthy Harvest) pasta, but sometimes I just want regular white pasta---this one is just that but with lots of fiber and extra calcium. It is so good, drive out to the store and get some now!

turkey burgers

So, today was a double workout day! One workout in the a.m. (shoulders, triceps, 85 minutes cardio) and one in the evenining (20 minutes cardio, abs) this maximizes metabolism. I drank about 100 oz of water (mainly because I am planning on drinking some wine tonight!

So I had a hankering for a turkey burger tonight, so I love shady brook farms turkey burgers, grilled in the pan, with american cheese, ketchup and homemade basil aoli (pesto and garlic mayo) on an english muffin, with what else but green beans!!!!

Thank god for Costco!

So I have professed my love for Costco many many times, but I love them again and I am not afraid to say it! I bought a great chicken sausage from there, with sundried tomatoes, mozzerella and basil. It was delicious! I cooked it in a pan with a little water (and then browned it) and served it with Healthy Harvest whole wheat pasta and vodka sauce (also both bought at Costco) and hubby really like it (and so did I)!!!

Sunday, Oct 7, 2007

OK, I am very lax in updating...it is because i am eating total $hit this week! Today is a new start! I am back on the healthy wagon! Last night was girls night and I ate so much junk! I did eat some veggies and spinach dip, but it was ridiculous! It was like the night before a junkie goes to rehab--only I just know I am back on the healthy diet. I am going to have a Starbux white mocha, but I did do an hour of lifting and 80 minutes of cardio---other than that it has been pretty healthy. I actually have not eaten much because Im still full from last night---yes I ate that much! Ill post later with my food.
